Rich East Varsity Places at Southland Athletic Conference Cross Country Meet


Crete, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Rich East’s Dorian Simnmons placed ninth and Janiah Jones placed seventh at the Southland Athletic Conference varsity Cross Country meet on Saturday at Crete-Monee High School.

Simmons, a sophomore ran the 3.0-mile course in 18 minutes 19 seconds and Jones, a freshman, had a time of 22.26. Stephan Riley of Bloom (17:00.5) and Rich South’s Tim Skonicki (17:09.3, placed first and second, respectively, in the boys race.

For the girls, Rich South’s twins Deasia and Cierra Garrett had first- and second-place times of 20:37 and 20:50. Team-wise for the boys, Bloom was conference champions with Rich East placing third out of five teams for the boys.

The Rocket Girls placed fourth out of five teams. Also for the Rocket boys team, Kirk Marshall was 14th with a PR time of 19:03.8 and LaRon Rogers was 19th with a PR time of 19:52.5. Other Rocket girls times were Cheyenne Adams (18th, 25:27) and Dominique Hendricks (19th, 25:41).

Team champions were Bloom for the Boys and Rich South for the girls. The Rockets will compete in the Illiana Regional Cross Country Meet on Saturday, Oct. 23, at North Creek Meadow Forest Preserve in Lansing.
