Will Compete in State Tournament March 23

Southland College Prep Charter High School won first place in the Illinois High School Association’s Group Interpretation Sectional tournament hosted by Thornton Township High School, Harvey March 17.

A 15-member cast and crew staged “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street,” based on a 1960 episode from the first season of “The Twilight Zone,” by Rod Serling, creator-narrator of the CBS television anthology series.

Cast members of the first place Group Interpretation entry are: Dejah Morris, Markeia Kellogg,  Amaia Howard, Alexis Eiland, Victoria Dean, Alayna Hester, Chris Rapp, Armanti Reed, Jalen Causey, Tobias Davis and Terrance Mayfield.  Student directors are Angelica Ferguson, Lisa Owens, Kassidy Hayslett and Jonathan Reynolds.
