Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Struggling to pull away from a pesky Joliet Catholic squad on Friday, host Marian Catholic blanked the Hilltoppers for the final six minutes and finished on a 7-0 run en route to a 45-38 East Suburban Catholic victory.

Warren Allen paced a balanced attack with 10 points and two steals, while Chase Adams (three rebounds, two steals) and Sean Taylor (three 3-pointers) each notched nine points. Brandon Hurt finished with seven points, four assists and three rebounds, while TeeAaron Powell also clicked for seven points.

With the teams even on field goals (15) and three-pointers (five), Marian (5-4, 1-1) hit 10-for-13 from the foul line to outscore the Hillmen (3-5, 1-1) by a 10-3 margin at the charity stripe.

JCA gained a 27-23 lead early in the third quarter, but never led after Adams and Taylor hit consecutive hoops late in the third period.

Sophs: The Spartans (6-2) prevailed over the Hilltoppers, 53-33, as Breion Hill tallied 13 points and Jordan Green chipped in 11 points.

Frosh: Marian’s A Squad topped JCA, 46-38, while the B Team prevailed as well.
