Matteson, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Courtesy of a grant from Target, St. Lawrence O’Toole School, hosted Urban Gateways in early February. The Chamber Brass Players Quintet came and performed specialized concerts for grades PreK-8.
The students were introduced to each instrument of the brass family using early classical, jazz and popular music. The performance was interactive and the Quintet even invited band students to perform.
Students loved the entertainer coming into the crowd and playing the trombone in their faces and learning how to buzz a brass instrument. One student even had the chance to learn and play the tuba.
"The experience was informative and above all fun!" the school says in a press release.
Urban Gateways returned to do additional hands-on teaching in the classrooms. All the students were actively involved.
