SD 162 Meets Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.


Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Matteson School District 162 Board of Education will hold a Sepcial Meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room on January 27, 2009. Among the items on the agenda are some dates to remember:

  • January 28, 2009, 7:00 p.m., District Spelling Bee, Huth Middle School
  • January 29-30, 2009, Parent-Teacher Conferences, No School
  • February 16, 2009, Presidents’ Day, No School
  • February 17, 2009, 7:00 p.m., Board of Education Meeting
  • February 19, 2009, 7:00 p.m., District Black History Celebration

In addition, the board will consider approving the employment of Hilary A. Smith as 1.1 paraprofessional at Richton Square School, effective January 5, 2009.

The board will consider the following resignation and retirement: the resignation of Marijean L. Kohl, Huth Middle School special education teacher, effective January 6, 2009, and the resignation for the purpose of retirement of LeRoy Pudwell, skilled maintenance, effective January 6, 2009.

The board will consider approval of the following leaves:

  • Approve the maternity leave of Tyra Coleman, kindergarten teacher at Richton Square School, beginning February 23, 2009, and returning May 26, 2009.
  • Approve the change in the return date of maternity leave for Kelly Jackson, teacher at Richton Square School, from March 16, 2009, to March 3, 2009.
  • Approve the change in the beginning date of maternity leave for Dessaree Watters, para-professional at Sauk School, from January 16, 2009, to January 12, 2009.
  • Approve the maternity leave of Ellen Phillips, eighth grade math teacher at Huth Middle School, beginning approximately March 3, 2009, with a return date of the first day of teacher duties for the 2009-2010 school year.
  • Approve the Family and Medical Leave for Beth Figlewicz, Richton Square School secretary, beginning January 29, 2009, and running intermittently until April 1, 2009.

Among other items on the agenda, the board will consider the following:

A. The Board will consider approval of the amended Procedures Assuring the   Implementation of Comprehensive Program for Children with Disabilities, as required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004.

B.  The Board will consider approval of District Policy 5305 on the Use of Isolated  Time-Out and Physical Restraint.

C. The Board will consider approval of Amended Policy 5021 Responsibilities Under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

D.  The Board will consider approval of Policy 5316 –  Prohibition on Discipline of Student for Failure to Medicate.

E. The Board will consider approval of revisions to Policy 3550 Transportation.

F. The Board will consider approval of revisions to Policy 5245 Students: Substance Abuse.

G. The Board will consider approval of revisions to Policy 5221 Students: Dangerous Weapons.

H. The Board will consider approval of revisions to Policy 4100 Personnel: Employee Protection.

I.   The Board will consider revisions to Policy 5010 Students: Equal Educational Opportunities.

J.  The Board will consider approval of revisions to Policy 5440 Students: Safety.

K. The Board will consider approval of revisions to Policy 4014 Personnel: Qualifications and Certification.

L. The Board will consider approval of revisions to Policy 5105 Students: Admission.

M. The Board will consider approval of revisions to Policy 5125 Students: Truancy.

N. The Board will consider rescinding Policy 6125 Curriculum and Instruction: Human Growth and Development.

O. The Board will consider approval of new Policy 6125 Curriculum and Instruction.

P. The Board will consider rescinding Policy 9060 New Board Member Orientation.

Q. The Board will consider approving Policy 9060 Board Member Oath and Conduct.

R. The Board will consider rescinding Policy 9050 Role of the Board.

S. The Board will consider approval of Policy 9050 Board-Superintendent Relationship.

T. The Board will consider rescinding Policy 3215 Non-Resident Students.

U. The Board will consider rescinding Policy 5115 Student Residency.

V. The Board will consider approval of new Policy 5115 Resident Students.

W. The Board will consider rescinding Policy 5410 Administration of Medication.

X. The Board will consider approving new Policy 5410 Administering Medicines to Students.

Y. The Board will consider rescinding Policy 5420 Physical Examination.

Z. The Board will consider rescinding Policy 5425 Immunizations

ZZ. The Board will consider approving new Policy 5420 Health, Eye, and Dental Examinations; Immunizations; and Exclusion of Students.
