Tinley Park , IL–(ENEWSPF)–The official tree lighting in Tinley Park ’s Zabrocki Plaza was Sunday, November 30, but individuals from Sertoma Centre wasted no time in decorating ahead of time for the annual event.

According to Melanie Jones, director of advancement and communication, Sertoma Centre has once again been given the opportunity to decorate a tree in front of the Oak Park Avenue train station for the Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce.

As in past years, local businesses have been asked to donate trees to Tinley’s holiday festivities, and Sertoma is one of many charities selected to decorate one with their own hand-made ornaments.

“The individuals at Sertoma are thrilled to be able to create their own ornaments for their own tree at the train station,” Jones said, “they have come up with some wonderful ideas.”

Contributions were made from every program at Sertoma Centre including Young at Heart Seniors, Autism Services and Developmental Training. And since the Tinley Chamber requests that the ornaments be durable and winter-weather friendly, designs ranged from snowflakes made out of sturdy pipe cleaner to the more classically round, custom-painted baubles.

Sertoma Centre, Inc. is a nationally-accredited, not-for-profit agency that provides services to over 600 individuals with developmental, physical and emotional disabilities, and/or mental illness.
