Solstice Hike at Thorn Creek Woods

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Celebrate the beauty of the summer woods with a woodland hike on the longest day of the year, Friday, June 21, 7:30-930 p.m. Discover the naturalist in you as you explore the woods, observing birds and insects, identifying trees and flowers, following tracks and much more.

Participants will enjoy a hike on natural surface trails across uneven terrain. The hike is free and for all ages.  Registration is required by Wednesday, June 19.

Bring the family out and enjoy 3 ½ miles of trails through Thorn Creek Nature Preserve and then top your day off by exploring Thorn Creek Nature Center. The nature center offers a bird viewing window, children’s science corner, exhibits for children and adults, and our Eugene Schwartz Memorial Library packed with books on local history and nature.

Trails are open daily from dawn to dusk and the nature center is open Friday and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
