Spring Together Green Volunteer Event Scheduled

Matteson, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Looking for community service or just want to help your natural community? Visit Bartel Grasslands near the corner of Flossmoor Road & Central Avenue on Saturday, March 21st from 9:00 a.m. – Noon. We will start off the event by planting native plants. A qualified Bartel volunteer will teach you about the plants and how to properly plant them, so no experience is necessary! Afterwards, all can enjoy a hotdog lunch, home-baked goodies and a bonfire. Dress for being outside. With all the rain it is very muddy, so rubber boots are highly recommended.

The Cook County Forest Preserve District and Thorn Creek Audubon are the sponsors of the National Audubon Society –Toyota Corporation TogetherGreen Volunteer Days alliance. TogetherGreen volunteer events are designed to connect people with ways to make a conservation difference in their local communities. By building stronger alliances with other local organizations, Audubon hopes to attract new and diverse volunteers to help address pressing environmental problems and opportunities.

This is a chance for you to volunteers and be a part of the conservation solution. The Bartel Grassland event has activities designed for the environmental education of all ages of volunteers from all walks of life. More information can be obtained by calling Bartel Grassland Site Steward, Dick Riner at 708-720-5683.

There will also be additional events at Bartel Grasslands in April and May that the entire community is also invited to. Additional details will be released soon. Visit http://TogetherGreen.org to see video and photos from our previous volunteer events.
