Springfield, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Illinois GOP legislative leaders issued a joint statement expressing support “to fundamentally reform how we fund our public education system.”

The statement, issued by Senate Republican Leader-Designee Bill Brady and House Republican Leader Jim Durkin, was issued Monday.

“We support the governor’s call for the four legislative leaders to meet and remain committed to reaching a speedy, bipartisan resolution to fundamentally reform how we fund our public education system,” the statement said.

Governor Rauner issued an amendatory veto to the education funding reform bill that passed the state legislature. Sunday, the Illinois Senate voted 38-19 to override the governor’s veto. The state House will vote Wednesday to override.
