CHICAGO—(ENEWPSF)—October 29, 2010 – 3:40 PM (CST) According to a statement made at the White House by President Obama, the two suspicious packages intended to be delivered to Chicago-area synagogues did contain explosive materials. John Brennan, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security, informed the President at approximately 10:35 PM (EST) Thursday that homeland security systems implemented after the September 11th attacks provided information that a credible threat was being posed against the U.S. President Obama instructed Brennan to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of the American people.
