Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Village officials announced the Park Forest Ten Ton Challenge, billed as a healthy and fun alternative to guilt trips and self punishment from those hard to keep January resolutions. Participants will be provided opportunities to learn how to change diet, while incorporating simple exercises to help them look and feel better as pounds drop.

"We are challenging 1,000 people to lose 20 pounds each, for a total weight loss of 20,000 (10 Tons)," says Jason Miller, Director of Public Relations. "The professionally trained staff of the Park Forest Health Department is committed to the success of each resident who accepts the challenge. The challenge requires a nominal $10 fee to participate."

According to Miller, from Halloween until the New Year, many people focus on their weight. Crash diets and extreme exercise programs become popular as many look to shed pounds put on by overindulging during the holidays. Not only are adults with slowed metabolism affected by obesity. Headlines read of the obesity epidemic happening to our children also.

Nurses Plus of the Park Forest Health Department will be assisting with the program.

Full details of the Challenge will be revealed in January 2008 during the Grand Celebration of the Health Department and Nurses Plus relocation to the lower level of Village Hall. Go for the goal and accept the challenge.

Remember, a healthier community is a happier community. 10 Tons is our goal. We can do it, yes we can!
