Why Is Park Forest Water Discolored Today?

April 19, 5:08 p.m.

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Village of Park Forest Water department has announced that the problem with the discoloration of water is due to the transition from the old water system to the new water system.

The white, cloudy water is actually calcium.   The water is not harmful, according to a spokesperson for the Water Department.  It is safe for drinking and cooking.  The Water Department is currently in the process of flushing out all the water lines.  When this process is completed, water will run from cloudy to rusty to clear.

As of this writing, the Water Department is south of Sauk Trail flushing lines.  Residents are advised to not do laundry if the water is rusty.
