Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Want to improve your skills as a writer? Interested in sharing your ideas or written work with others? Come to the Writers’ Workshop at the Park Forest Library and join other creators in our bi-monthly writers’ group, led by James Pressler, for all your writing wishes. Writers of all skill levels are welcomed.

This Week at the Park Forest Public Library

The events highlighted below are above and beyond the usual services the library provides. There are technology services, including access to public computers, printing, free Wi-Fi, and more; studying and meeting rooms available; free home delivery services to residents of Park Forest and Olympia Fields; various book drop locations at the library, Park Forest Village Hall, and the Olympia Fields Post Office; and more.

SENSORY STORY TIME!

Join us for an interactive storytime filled with stories, songs, sensory play, and socialization! Children of all abilities are welcome.

If your child has difficulty sitting thorugh one of our other storytimes, this program of stories, songs, and activites might be just what you are looking for.

The Friends of the Park Forest Library enhance and support the operations of the library. In order for the Friends to operate, we need you involved! You can sign up for membership by asking at the Patron Services or Info Zone desk. Patrons are welcome to the social to see if they would like to become a member of Friends of the Library.

Baby Time

Babies and their parents or caregivers are invited to read, sing and grow in this weekly story time. This program is geared toward babies 0 – 36 months with an accompanying adult. This is the perfect time for families to bond with their child/children.

The Great Courses: Great Music of the 20th Century

Discover a Breathtaking Epoch in Western Music

Taking a chronological approach, the course explores the fascinating gamut of 20th-century musical “isms,” from impressionism and fauvism to serialism, stochasticism, ultraserialism, neo-classicism, neo-tonalism, and minimalism, as well as the inclusivity and synthesis within concert music that embraced Western historical styles, folk and popular music, jazz, rock, Asian, Latin American, and other influences in the service of heightened expression. Through the panoramic view of the course, you’ll discover the genius of composers such as Webern, Antheil, Stockhausen, Bernstein, Takamitsu, and many others.

Ukulele Orchestra (New Members Welcome)

The Library is forming a Ukulele Orchestra! We are looking of ukulele players ages 12 and up who are well seasoned or just beginners. We also have a few seats open for Kazoo players over the age of 65.
