CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–May 22, 2014. A former Chicago tax preparer was sentenced today to nearly four years in federal prison for filing nearly 3,200 false federal income tax returns that claimed refunds totaling more than $3.37 million for clients. The defendant, VERLEAN HOLLINS, was sentenced to 46 months in prison and fined nearly $800,000 after pleading guilty in January to two counts of aiding and assisting in the preparation of false federal income tax returns.
