State and Local School Finance Systems Perpetuate Inequitable Student Spending

Washington, D.C. –(ENEWSPF)–September 19, 2012.  Today a new report from the Center for American Progress tackles the serious issue of public school funding inequity by identifying often-overlooked features of school funding systems that exacerbate inequities in per-pupil spending rather than reduce them. Findings from the report will be presented today at an event, featuring former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, where education and policy experts will discuss how state and local school-finance systems perpetuate inequitable student spending and what policymakers can and should do to address the problem.
