WASHINGTON – Former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife, Sandi, lived the high life by funnelling campaign funds to pay for more than 3,000 personal purchases, including flat-screen televisions, pricey memorabilia, appliances for their Chicago home, stuffed toys, mounted elk heads, health club dues and luxury vacations, including a five-day holistic retreat on Martha’s Vineyard.

Prosecutors released the new details as Jackson Jr. pleaded guilty Wednesday morning in federal court in Washington, D.C., to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, mail fraud and false statements. His wife, Sandi Jackson, the former 7th Ward alderman, broke down in tears as she pleaded guilty to a single tax crime Wednesday afternoon.
