American Federation of Teachers Members and Leaders Head to Charlotte, N.C., for Democratic Convention

Charlotte, N.C.–(ENEWSPF)–September 4, 2012.  American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten, Secretary-Treasurer Lorretta Johnson and Executive Vice President Francine Lawrence, as well as more than 100 AFT members and leaders, will be in Charlotte, N.C., on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week as delegates to the Democratic National Convention.

After a week of demonization of and attacks on teachers at the Republican National Convention, the Obama-Biden ticket will use the Democratic convention to showcase real solutions to move America forward, invest in public education and teachers, and strengthen the middle class

AFT members and leaders will take part in several panels and discussions to highlight the choice the American people face this election and emphasize how AFT members are uniting their communities around solutions that expand educational and economic opportunity for all.
