Audubon Society: ‘Bird Killer Amendment’ Infects Appropriations Bill

Language Would Prohibit Enforcement of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act

WASHINGTON, D.C.–(ENEWSPF)–June 4, 2015 – Yesterday, Representative Jeff Duncan (R-SC) successfully introduced an amendment to the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (H.R. 2578) that would restrict the Department of Justice from prosecuting violators of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, one of the country’s oldest and most effective conservation laws.
