Center for American Progress’ Economist Adam Hersh on November’s Jobs Report

Washington, D.C.–(ENEWSPF)–December 6, 2013.  Today, Center for American Progress Economist Adam Hersh issued the following reaction to the announcement of November’s employment figures:

The U.S. economy forged ahead in November, adding 203,000 new jobs and seemingly shrugging off the impact of last month’s conservative-orchestrated government shutdown. While steadily improving, today’s employment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows millions of Americans still struggling to find opportunities to secure a middle-class standard of living, with a majority of new jobs paying below-average wages.

This week, President Barack Obama declared rising inequality and lack of upward mobility fundamental threats to the American Dream. Today’s report shows we have a lot of work to do to address these threats and ensure growth delivers prosperity more broadly throughout the economy.
