WASHINGTON, D.C. –(ENEWSPF)–November 20, 2012. Friends of the Earth was disappointed by today’s ruling by a World Trade Organization tribunal that Ontario, Canada’s “feed-in tariff” program to increase green energy’s share of its electricity market and build local, green energy infrastructure violates international trade law. The decision illustrates how the WTO has put itself in a position to make future choices about climate policy based not on sound climate science, but rather based on trade rules.
