If You Don’t Like a Story on ENEWSPF, Don’t Call the Village of Park Forest!

If you don’t like a story on eNews Park Forest, don’t call the Village of Park Forest!

Look, folks. eNews Park Forest, Inc., is an independently owned news media organization. eNews Park Forest is certainly not a government-published, or even Village of Park Forest-endorsed news Web site.

As we state on every page, at the bottom, "Please Note: eNews Park Forest, Inc. is an independent media company and is not affiliated with the Village of Park Forest in any way."

"In any way" means just that. "In any way."

The Village of Park Forest does not own, operate, or have any say as to what eNews Park Forest publishes.

If you really need proof of that, perhaps some day I will share with you my thoughts on a very interesting, perhaps bizarre conversation, I had with the mayor, village manager, and village attorney not too long ago.

After consulting with two attorneys from the Society of Professional Journalists after that conversation, I am certain that we are in the right.

But, listen, folks. Give the Village of Park Forest a break. If you don’t like something published here, write to [email protected].

You have a trustee who believes in transparency. He (I) started this publication during the only year he had "off" from serving in office, as an independent citizen.

Let me note again:

eNews Park Forest, Inc. is an independent media company and is not affiliated with the Village of Park Forest in any way.

This means that what you see here, what you read here, is in no way an official communication from the Village of Park Forest.

This also means that you cannot control us by protesting to the Village of Park Forest.

We’re just publishing the news. And commentary.

Independently.

Whether you like it or not.

Gary Kopycinski is editor and publisher of eNews Park Forest and a village trustee in Park Forest. His reporting is his own. eNews Park Forest, Inc. is an independent media company and is not affiliated with the Village of Park Forest in any way.

Note: The Society of Professional Journalists was originally referred to as the Society of Professional Journalism in this commentary. We regret the error.
