Inexcusable: Minority of Senators Block Unemployment Benefits AGAIN

WASHINGTON, DC–(ENEWSPF)–February 6, 2014.  After a minority of Senators blocked a bill in that would have extended federal emergency unemployment insurance benefits, Mary Kay Henry, President of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), issued the following statement:

Proud member of LION Publishers

“Once again, a minority of Senators have refused to allow an extension of federal unemployment benefits to move forward. Given that more than 1.3 million workers have already lost benefits, blocking this bill in inexcusable. These are ordinary Americans who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own are now forced to struggle more than ever to make ends meet. Blocking this bill is especially galling since the legislation is fully paid for, as demanded by the minority. With Majority Leader Reid’s leadership, we are hopeful that the Senate will be able to provide relief to these workers as soon as possible.
