“Rep. Akin’s outrageous belief about women who have been raped and are facing the potential of pregnancy because of that traumatic experience are reprehensible. The fact that these comments are coming from an elected U.S. Representative seeking a U.S. Senate seat is nothing short of sickening and his attempt to back pedal from his statement falls pathetically short.
This is why elections matter. We must do all we can to ensure that anti-choice politicians who pass judgment about the private health care choices of women, especially those who have survived the violence of rape, do not prevail in November.
Rep. Akin and his despicable views, which are unfortunately shared by other candidates seeking office this year, are dangerous. Politicians like Akin do not deserve to hold any elective office.”
