New Video “Voices of Flint” Debuts at Democratic National Convention

Philadelphia, PA –(ENEWSPF)–July 28, 2016.   Under pressure to cut costs in April 2014, the city of Flint, Michigan, switched its water source from Lake Huron to the Flint River—a move that contaminated the city’s drinking water with lead, costing residents’ health and quality of life.

Tonight, the Democratic National Convention Committee is releasing a new video, “Voices of Flint,” highlighting the ongoing water crisis and its devastating impact on families.

In addition to featuring testimonies from local clergy, parents and children, the video also features commentary from Flint Mayor Karen Weaver, who is also speaking tonight.

Republican Governor Rick Snyder allowed families, children, and members of the community to drink polluted, toxic water. Hillary Clinton listened to the people of Flint, stood up, and spoke out, saying, “This is not merely unacceptable or wrong, though it is both. What happened in Flint is immoral.”

A resident stated, “When you have somebody like that fighting for you and supporting you and saying ‘I’ve got your back’, you can’t ask for much more.” Hillary Clinton has their backs, and she will continue to address issues that go unheard in our country.

As Senator, Clinton worked to address the issues of lead poisoning in communities across the country, and as President, Clinton will fight for the residents of Flint and other communities facing environmental justice crises across the country.
