OREGON-(ENEWSPF)- On Thursday of last week, Speaker of the House John Boehner blogged about his experience enrolling in Obamacare. While he eventually did manage to enroll, Boehner lamented about the length of time it took him to go through the process. (See: Speaker of the House John Boehner Successfully Signs up for Obamacare).

Well it appears that Speaker Boehner has exaggerated his experience. According to Allen Clifton of Forward Progressives, much of the reason for the delay with getting through to the Help Desk for HealthCare.gov was due to the fact that Boehner’s staff placed the Help Desk on hold for 35 minutes.

Another interesting point was made last week in the New York Times which pointed out the “special perks” Members of Congress have to ease them through the enrollment process. For example, “in-person support sessions” are being conducted at the Capitol and congressional office buildings by the local exchange and four major insurers. In addition, Members of Congress can use a special Blue Cross and Blue Shield toll-free telephone number to access a “dedicated congressional health insurance plan assistance line” (See: http://www.nytimes.com)

Since Boehner has access to all these special perks – perks that those he represents can’t use – why are he and his staff tying up the HealthCare.gov system? Seems a bit like a waste of more of the taxpayer dollars that the Republicans like to try and make us believe they are so concerned about saving.
