Phil Davison, GOP Candidate, Delivers Stark County Treasurer Speech (Video)

Stark County, OH-(ENEWSPF)- Phil Davison, GOP candidate for Stark County Treasurer, delivers perhaps the worst campaign speech in the history of modern politics.

Some commentary and background from CantonRep.com:

Phil Davison’s rant to Stark County Republican insiders was good for an “oh my gosh” laugh. But lost in much of the Internet hype and national media attention was that he never had a chance.

And that’s a good thing.

Davison delivered his speech Wednesday to the Stark County Republican executive committee. He wanted his party’s nomination for county treasurer in the Nov. 2 election to fill what remains of Gary Zeigler’s term following the former treasurer’s ouster in an embezzlement scandal.

I don’t have inside dope here. I don’t need it to conclude that the assembled Republicans knew Davison was just going through the motions.

And that was before he started to speak, thus demonstrating his emotional immaturity and killing even a long-odds speck of a chance he’d get the nod.

Executive committee members were shrinking into their seats and suppressing embarrassed giggles before he finished — generally not the reaction you want at a job interview.

Blogger Martin Olson of Lake Township shot the video of Davison’s six-minute speech and posted it to YouTube and The Huffington Post online.

From there it went viral. The video had been viewed tens of thousands of times at YouTube by Friday afternoon.
