Matteson, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Current Rich Township High School District 227 School Board President Betty Owens received a staunch boost in her re-election campaign from former state Representative Robin Kelly. Kelly recently made headlines for her defeat of former U.S. Representative Debbie Halvorson in the Democratic race to replace Jesse Jackson Jr. in Congress. This endorsement is very pivotal for Owens, as District 227 is in the 2nd congressional district.
Owens has dedicated her life and career to education. Owens stated, “From the time I entered school at age 5 year old; my goal in life was to become a teacher.” Owens has a 33-year career in education that includes serving as the principal of 3 different schools for 17 years and 7 years as assistant superintendent.
Owens was elected to the Board of Education in Rich Township High School District 227, where she has served for 8 years. She is up for re-election on April 9, 2013.
