Sierra Club Responds to House Energy and Commerce Committee Voting to Remove Crude Oil Export Ban

Washington, D.C. –(ENEWSPF)–September 17, 2015.  Today, the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed legislation that would remove the Crude Oil Export Ban.

In response, Lena Moffitt, Director of Sierra Club’s Dirty Fuels Initiative released the following statement:

“It’s disappointing but not at all surprising that Big Oil’s friends on the House Energy and Commerce Committee voted to remove the ban on crude oil exports. Removing the ban does nothing but pad the pockets of oil executives and warm our climate. Moreover, public opinion is overwhelming in support of keeping the ban in place.

“Congress should focus on passing legislation to move us off of fossil fuels — not on bills that are bad for the climate, our workers, and our wallets.”
