Sierra Club: Senate Republicans Attack Clean Water & Air in EPA Spending Bill

WASHINGTON, DC –(ENEWSPF)–June 14, 2016.  Today, Republicans working on a spending bill in the the Senate’s Interior-EPA subcommittee used the opportunity to attack safeguards and protections that protect clean air, clean water and endangered species.

In Response, Sierra Club Legislative Director Melinda Pierce Released the Following Statement:

“One of the only things Americans can count on Congressional Republicans to actually do in Washington is take every opportunity they have to weaken clean air, clean water, and public health protections. Congressional Republicans pander to polluters so regularly that you could set your watch to it. It’s a disastrous approach that undermines the federal budget process and would make thousands and thousands of Americans sick if it was ultimately enacted.

Americans deserve a clean budget — with no dirty, dangerous riders — to fully fund the agencies that protect our cherished public spaces and keep us safe from pollution.”
