CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–October 6, 2016. Daniel Saldaña París, an essayist, poet and novelist whose work includes the widely acclaimed novel Among Strange Victims will read from his latest work beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 in Roosevelt University’s Gage Building, Room 700, 18 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago.
A native of Mexico City, Saldaña París is a writer whose work has been translated into English, French and Swedish, and his recent novel Among Strange Victims has been praised by Mid-Year 2016: The Year’s Best Fiction (So Far) Vol. 1 Brooklyn as a work that “sneaks up on you in the best possible way.”
Free and open to the public, the reading is part of MAKE Literary Magazine’s annual Lit & Luz Festival and is sponsored by Roosevelt University’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program, Roosevelt’s literary magazine, Oyez Review, and the University’s Department of Literature and Languages.
Held each fall in Chicago and in February in Mexico City, the festival includes readings, discussions and performances by renowned writers from the United States and Mexico. New translations and artistic collaborations promoting contemporary literature from both countries are among highlights of the festival, which began in 2014, growing out of MAKE magazine’s Intercambio portfolio. This Spanish-language cultural exchange has appeared in every issue since its debut in 2012 and has featured over 40 writers to date, many in English translation for the first time.
