Annual Networking Event for Students of Color at Prairie State College on Thursday, March 2


CHICAGO HEIGHTS–(ENEWSPF)–February 28, 2017. The Male Success Initiative (MSI) program at Prairie State College (PSC) will host its 11th annual networking event, Ties That Bind, on Thursday, March 2, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Conference Center on the main campus, located at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.

This event is open to African American and Hispanic/Latino males who are hoping to pursue a college education. Participants will have the opportunity to sharpen their networking skills and learn how to build professional relationships by engaging with men from various occupational backgrounds. Mentors will provide students with career advice, tips on how to dress, interviewing techniques and information on how to succeed in college.

“Our objective is to build lifelong bonds. The ultimate goal is to instill confidence, build encouragement, cultivate intellectual abilities and instill empowerment in males of color,” said William Berkley, MSI coordinator and enrollment advisor at PSC.

The event is free and open to the public. All participants are encouraged to dress in business attire. Light appetizers will be served.

The purpose of the MSI program is to recruit, enroll, retain and support males of color in their pursuit of all educational endeavors.
