The Owls and the Moon program of artistic and spooky fun is for children – or adults – who love nature and Halloween. Join us at Thorn Creek Nature Center Sunday, October 29, from 1-2 p.m.

Internationally-known artist Pat Moore, an instructor at the Tall Grass Arts Association that serves all of the South Suburbs, will help young artists capture the after-dark lives of owls and the moon.  Students will draft from nature, studying real taxidermy specimens to create their own owl drawings or masks to wear or display.

And if the autumn moon inspires you, you can also create a moon mask to represent any phase of the moon – full, half moon, or crescent – decorated and texturized with color, sequins, feathers and sand.  All materials will be provided and refreshments will be served.

This art program is open to all ages; children younger than age 6 should be accompanied by an adult.

Participants must register by Friday, October 27.  All needed art materials will be supplied and refreshments will be served. There is a $5 fee per person to participate.

For more information or to register for this program, please call Thorn Creek Nature Center, 247 Monee Road, Park Forest at 708-747-6320.
