Analysis Finds Swaddling Increases Risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome When Infants Placed on Stomach or Side to Sleep

AAP-(ENEWSPF)- The risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome appears to increase when infants are swaddled while sleeping prone or on their sides, according to a research analysis in the June 2016 issue of Pediatrics. The article, “Swaddling and the Risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome: a Meta-analysis,” is to be published online on May 9. Four studies were deemed eligible for inclusion in the review because of their relevance.
