Innovative Primary Senior Care LLC to Participate in Independence at Home Demonstration

Initiative designed to test effectiveness of providing primary care at home

Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–August 10, 2012.  The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) today announced that Innovative Primary Senior Care LLC is one of three new consortia participating in the Independence at Home Demonstration. Through the Independence at Home Demonstration, CMS is partnering with health care providers to test the effectiveness of providing chronically ill Medicare beneficiaries with primary care services in the home.

“We are pleased to add to our growing list of providers working with us to make the Independence at Home Demonstration a successful one,” said Marilyn Tavenner, acting administrator of CMS. “Through this initiative, we hope to provide some of our most fragile Medicare beneficiaries with the ability to stay at home with more ready access to the care they need.”

In April, CMS announced the names of individual practices selected to participate in the Demonstration. CMS also allowed multiple practices to apply to participate in the demonstration as a consortium rather than as individual practices. Today, CMS is announcing the three consortia selected to participate:

  • Innovative Primary Senior Care LLC (Skokie, Ill.)
  • Treasure Coast Healthcare LLC (Stuart, Fla.)
  • Virginia Commonwealth University Health System/Medical College of Virginia Hospitals and Physicians (Richmond, Va.)

Consortia participants will begin their first performance period in the demonstration this fall. Additional information about the Independence at Home Demonstration is available at: http://www.innovation.cms.gov/initiatives/Independence-at-Home/.
