Elk Grove Village, IL—(ENEWSPF)—January 5, 2016. Despite significant progress in recent years, a new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) says the nation remains incompletely equipped to respond to children’s unique medical needs in the wake of disasters. Children are particularly vulnerable to illness and injury during pandemics, natural disasters such as hurricanes, or acts of terrorism, according to a new policy statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The statement, “Medical Countermeasures for Children in Public Health Emergencies, Disasters or Terrorism,” will be published in the February 2016 issue of Pediatrics (published online Jan. 4).
