Elk Grove Village, IL—(ENEWSPF)—June 1, 2015. Physicians are highly influential in parental vaccine decision making, but sometimes feel unprepared in addressing parents’ concerns about vaccines. When vaccine hesitancy leads to delaying or refusing vaccines, outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases may occur. A July 2015 Pediatrics study, “Physician Communication Training and Parental Vaccine Hesitancy: A Randomized Trial,” (published online June 1) is the first randomized trial to test an intervention aimed at improving hesitancy about early childhood vaccines by working directly with physicians.
