Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Wondering where to go and what to do during summer days in Park Forest? Many of your neighbors — many more than last year — are diving into the Aqua Center.

And there’s plenty of room for more.

And no, the random number eNews Park Forest set below is just that: a random number.

Apparently there are those in town who are spreading rumors that, unless the Aqua Center gets "X" amounts of memberships this year, next year, there will be no Aqua Center.

Please disregard, ignore, and counter every rumor you hear along those lines.

As a Village Trustee, I am telling you, there have been no such discussions among the mayor and village board members. In fact, we’re all tickled pink, and some of us are ready to get sunburnt pink, that the Aqua Center is doing so well this year.

Here are the numbers:

Recreation and Parks Director John Joyce tells eNews Park Forest that the number of memberships at the village’s iconic swimming pools has already surpassed the total memberships sold in 2011: 2,146 vs. 1,908 sold by the end of the 2011 season.

So, if you’re sitting at home, on the porch, working in the garden; if the kids or neighborhood teens are climbing the walls already complaining "There’s nothing to do!", everyone has a place to go

All of us, village board members, staff, and so, so many who have already joined the Aqua Center, all of us are looking forward to a long, cool, splash, and many, many more splashes, at the "place to be" this summer, the Park Forest Aqua Center.

What are you missing? Below, Dan Roche of Chicago Heights, DeAnne Metzger, and Brian and Juanita talk about why they joined the Park Forest Aqua Center.

Stop back frequently to check the number of memberships in the sidebar of eNews Park Forest.
