Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Police are still investigating a fire that broke out last Saturday evening, June 23, at 110 Algonquin. Firefighters from four surrounding communities including Matteson, Richton Park, South Chicago Heights and University Park assisted in the efforts to bring the blaze under control. Park Forest Fire Chief Robert Wilcox said in a phone interview that the fire's origin "…could not be discerned from any natural or accidental cause," and the department is still doing an investigative report. Chief Wilcox deferred to the police reports for a final explanation.

The fire gutted the rear of the house. The entire family was safely evacuated.

The matter is under investigation by the Park Forest Police Investigative Division as well.
