Boil Order Lifted

Updated Thursday, May 15, 3:10 p.m.

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– A boil order that had been in place for some residents in Park Forest has been lifted as of 2:30 pm Thursday.

Residents affected by the boil order can resume normal water usage.

A precautionary boil order was issued for residents of Park Forest south of Sauk Trail and east of Indianwood Boulevard remains in effect today. Residents in the area must boil all water used for drinking, cooking, or personal consumption.

Crews worked into the early morning hours Wednesday and were able to restore water service at 3:00 a.m.

The initial round of testing on the safety of water took place early Wednesday morning.

Scheduled hydrant flushing between the EJ&E Railroad & Sauk Trail will go on as scheduled today from 8:00 pm to midnight. Flushing scheduled in the Lincolnwood area for May 13th will be rescheduled to Early June.

Residents will be notified of the exact date at a later time. Roughly a fourth of the Village of Park Forest is affected by the order.

Check this space regularly for updates, the Village of Park Forest’s Web site, or tune into local cable access channel 4 for more information.

Additional information is available by contacting the Park Forest Public Works Department at 708-503-7702 during normal business hours or the non-emergency number of the Park Forest Police Department 708-748-4700.

Errata:  The revised story referring to the lifting of the water ban indicated the original ban was for "residents south of Western Avenue."  We have revised the story, and regret the error.
