Charges Against Brian Dorian, Lynwood Cop Accused in Shooting Spree, Dropped



Charges against Brian Dorian, a former Lansing police officer, have been dropped.

Update via CBS: Brian Dorian was released from jail at approximately 6:30 p.m.

A Lynwood police officer accused of a murdering a man is expected to be freed tonight after his alibi for the two-state shooting spree was verified, attorney Bob Odekirk said.

Brian Dorian was charged and pleaded not guilty in Will County court today. This evening, he was brought to the Will County Sheriff Department’s investigations division in downtown Joliet with his attorneys, Odekirk and Dave Carlson. They met with prosecutors and investigators, who were able to verify that Dorian was using his computer until at least 11 a.m. the day of the shootings, Odekirk said.

Prosecutors are expected to drop the charges and free Dorian tonight, he said. They have scheduled a press conference for 7 p.m.

Somewhere, Richard Jewell is smiling. Brian Dorian may be smiling soon as well.
