Three Southeast Flowers Gain 2,488 Acres of Protected Habitat in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—(ENEWSPF)—August 25, 2014. Following an agreement with the Center for Biological Diversity to speed decisions on protection for 757 imperiled species, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today protected 2,488 acres of critical habitat for three flowering plants in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. Short’s bladderpod, fleshy-fruit gladecress and whorled sunflowers were protected as endangered species under the Endangered Species Act earlier this month.
