Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—March 15, 2015. The League of Women Voters of Park Forest present Mental Health Issues in the Cook County Jail on Tuesday, March 17 at 7 p.m. at the Park Forest Public Library, 400 Lakewood Boulevard.
Cara Smith, Executive Director, Cook County Department of Corrections, will discuss the criminalization of mental illness and the challenges faced when seriously mentally ill defendants are placed in the Cook County Jail. The presentation will focus on mentally ill Individuals who are charged with crimes of survival – including retail theft, prostitution and criminal trespass.
