Center for American Progress’ Neera Tanden on Ben Jealous Stepping Down from NAACP

Washington, D.C.–(ENEWSPF)–September 9, 2013.  Benjamin Jealous, president and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, announced Sunday that he is stepping down from the organization at the end of the year. In response to his announcement, Neera Tanden, President of the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement:

Proud member of LION Publishers

Ben Jealous has been a fantastic and innovative leader in this crucial time for our friends at the NAACP. Under his tenure, he helped lead the NAACP as they faced a new set of challenges, and he helped build a 21st century organization to confront them. He leaves a modernized institution that is capable of great things and has mentored in a fresh generation of leaders who will continue the important work of the NAACP. We wish him well in his future endeavors, and I am grateful for his leadership of an institution that is a cornerstone of the progressive movement.
