KRAKOW—(ENEWSPF)—4 April 2014. Addressing the conference Defence Matters – new challenges of the NATO and EU security policy in Krakow, Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow said that Russia’s actions over the past few weeks put the NATO’s Summit in Wales in a very different light. He stressed that many of the Alliance’s Summit deliverables may in fact be the same, but that NATO will have to work towards them with a new sense of urgency. In his speech, he said that a crucial lesson from the recent crisis is that we need to maintain a strong defence and deterrence in Europe. What follows is a transcript of his remarks.
