BELGIUM–(ENEWSPF)–9 March 2011. NATO has decided to enhance its surveillance operation in the Central Mediterranean by increasing the operating capability of NATO AWACS aircraft to 24 hours a day. This is part of our long-standing counter-terrorist Operation Active Endeavour.
This decision to increase the air surveillance in the Mediterranean has been taken this week by the 28 Permanent Representatives of the North Atlantic Council, who remain concerned over the situation in Libya.
