Barb and Oliver Semans, both enrolled members of the South Dakota Rosebud Sioux Tribe, or Sicangu Oyate, helped form the Native voter advocacy group Four Directions, after leading the historic Native vote project in the state’s 2002 U.S. Senate race. Their efforts helped two Nevada tribes win court-ordered voter registration and voting sites on their reservations earlier this month.
