New York –(ENEWSPF)—December 20, 2013. Today, in response to reports that Ugandan lawmakers passed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, the Center for Constitutional Rights issued the following statement:
We stand with our clients Sexual Minorities Uganda and other partners in Uganda who are urging President Museveni to reject the bill passed in Uganda’s Parliament today criminalizing the very existence of LGBTI persons in the country’s social and political life. The idea of this bill and its drafting was heavily influenced by U.S. anti-gay extremists, in particular Scott Lively. Lively also took credit for a similar law in Russia claiming it was his “proudest achievement.”
