Juveniles Tasered in Attempted Burglary

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Two juveniles were tasered by police during an attempted burglary on the morning of Dec. 17.

At 10:14 a.m. Dec. 17, Park Forest Police were called to the 10-20 block of McGarity for a burglary in progress. Police made a perimeter around the house while other officers entered the residence through the front door. Two juveniles were located hiding in the basement, and refused commands to come toward the officers, according to police.

Police attempted to take one juvenile into custody, but he tried to escape and refused to put his hands behind his back. Police then tasered the juvenile approximately four times, but it appeared to have no effect through the three layers the juvenile was wearing. Police then tasered the juvenile’s back that became exposed during the struggle and police were able to place the juvenile in handcuffs. The second juvenile was also tasered due to his lack of compliance to all verbal directions to place his hands behind his back.

The two juveniles were arrested and taken to the Park Forest Police Department. Four pieces of custom jewelry were recovered from pockets of one of the juvenile’s pants. Police say he told them he took the jewelry from the residence.

Both juveniles were released to their parents and charged with one count of residential burglary. One of the juveniles was also charged with one count of theft of stolen property in connection with a different incident.
