50 Year Prison Sentence for Registered Sex Offender Charged with Aggravated Child Pornography

Chicago, IL-(ENEWSPF)- A registered sex offender was sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to videotaping a sex act with a 9-year-old boy in his south suburban mobile home last year, according to the office of Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.

James Arrigoni, 44, of Harvey pleaded guilty to one count of Aggravated Child Pornography and was sentenced to 50 years in prison last week. Arrigoni also plead guilty to one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and was given a 10-year sentence, both to be served concurrently in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

According to prosecutors, in March 2010 detectives from the Harvey Police Department were investigating an unrelated sexual assault when they learned that Arrigoni had been having visits with the 9-year-old victim alone in his mobile home. The victim and his mother also lived in a mobile home in the same area.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Arrigoni’s home and recovered a DVD recorded by the defendant which depicted him and the victim engaging in a sex act. The victim’s mother identified the victim on the video. The defendant was arrested and gave a statement to police admitting to sex acts with the victim.   Arrigoni, a registered sex offender, pleaded guilty in 1992 to a Criminal Sexual Assault charge involving a 13-year-old boy and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

A Cook County judge sentenced Arrigoni during a court appearance on June 20, 2011.

State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez thanked the Harvey Police Department for their assistance and Assistant State’s Attorney John Carroll of the Sex Crimes Unit for his handling of the case.
