Armed Robbery Thwarted When Suspect Flees


Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Park Forest police were dispatched to the Subway restaurant, 22301 Central Park Ave., on December 4 at 10:35 p.m. in reference to a report of an armed robbery.

According to witnesses at the store, an employee was cleaning a counter when she observed a black male subject enter the store wearing a black knit hat, dark gray scarf, gloves and a black jacket. According to police, the subject walked directly toward the cash register and stopped. The employee continue to clean and another employee came out from the back room, walked behind the counter toward the subject and said, "May I help you?" According to police, the subject responded, "Give me the money." The subject then repeated, "Give me the money," and displayed a small silver gun with his left hand, according to police.

According to police, the subject was told employees didn’t have the authority to open the register. One of the employees immediately walked back towards an office when she slipped on the floor and fell to the ground. The other employee began to walk towards her when the subject stated, "Stop, or I’ll shoot you." That employee then stopped and went to grab a cordless phone to call police when the subject turned and walked out of the restaurant. The employee dialed 911 to report the incident.

The alleged offender is described as a black male, dark complexion, between 25 and 35 years of age, approximately 5’9" or 6 feet tall with a medium build.

Police gathered evidence from the scene and continue to investigate.
